Diana Coogle

Author and Chair of the Board

A Georgia native, Diana Coogle moved to Oregon in the "sweep West" of the late '60s after graduating magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Vanderbilt University, studying in France and at Harvard University, earning her MA at Cambridge University as a Marshall Scholar, and teaching at Pikeville College as a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellow. She was a Jefferson Public Radio commentator for twenty years and has published three books of collected commentaries, a hiking guide to Applegate trails, and a book of essays to accompany paintings by Barbara Kostal. Her first book was a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards. Diana has taught writing at the Univeristy of Oregon, Rogue Community College, and Gothenburg University in Sweden, and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2012. She is chair of the board of the Applegater and was co-editor of the Applegater's anthology of Applegate writers, From the Heart of the Applegate.
